FAQs

Do you offer part time?

One World does not offer part time enrollment for students. We only allow full time enrollment Monday through Fridays.

What if my child does not use the bathroom yet?

If your child is still toilet learning our teachers and staff will work with you and your child to help them be successful. A toilet learning agreement is in our Parent Handbook for more information.

How often do you charge tuition & how can I pay?

One World sends invoices via the HiMama app weekly to your inbox. You can then pay by card or bank account. We also accept cash or check payments at the front desk.

What if my child gets sick at school?

One World follows the requirements set forth by the Washoe County Health Department. More detailed information is in our parent handbook.

If my child gets sick or misses school, will I still be charged?

Student tuition is based on enrollment, not attendance. If your child misses extended amounts of time due to illness or vacation, you will still be charged for your child’s spot. You may use vacation time available to you towards these absences, up to 5 days per year.

Are you closed for holidays?

We are closed for major holidays. We do not close for long breaks such as winter break spring break, etc. Typically we close for 13 days each year, but this number is subject to change each year based on when holidays fall on the calendar. A list is sent out each year for parents to plan their own schedules accordingly.

What if I need to withdraw my child?

One World requires a 2 week written notice when a child will be withdrawn for whatever reason. Parents are still responsible for those 2 weeks of tuition and cannot use any vacation time towards a withdrawal notice.

Do you offer tours?

Please call or email One World to schedule a tour. We do not allow walk in tours.

Can I visit my child?

The babies are welcome to have parents visit anytime, especially for nursing mothers, or if you would like to come spend some time with your baby. For all other classes we do have an open door policy, however, if visits could be disruptive to your child’s day or to the class, we may ask you to call or message us to check in on how your child is doing. You can call or message as often as you need to get an update on your child.

What if my child has an allergy? Are you a nut free school?

One World is not a nut free school. We do allow children to bring peanut butter sandwiches, etc. If a child has a nut allergy, or any allergy, we post a list in every classroom and our kitchen to avoid those foods children are allergic to. Necessary precautions are taken in the classroom for cleanliness and sanitizing. If your child requires an allergy/medication protocol we will follow that as instructed by a medical professional. We also recommend packing additional snacks in your child’s lunch or providing a stash of snacks for your child in their classroom in case there is an allergy concern.

Do you do before and after school care?

No, we only offer care for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years old. There is also no transportation of students to or from One World.

Do you require a deposit?

Yes, if there is space for your child in the future and you want that spot, we require a deposit of 1 full week of tuition for an infant, or 50% of 1 week tuition for all other ages. Once you start, that deposit will be credited to you towards your first tuition payment. Should you pay a deposit and find other care, the deposit is non-refundable.

Do you offer snacks and lunch?

One World provides a healthy morning and afternoon snack with lots of fruits, vegetables and nutritious options. Lunch needs to be brought from home with an ice pack to keep foods cold, if needed.

What about naps?

All classes excluding the baby room have a scheduled nap/rest period. Babies are on their own schedules so they nap as needed. Our regular nap/rest period for all other ages is 12:00pm-2:30pm.

What kind of curriculum do you use?

One World is a play based school. All classroom curriculums are created by the teachers inspired by monthly themes. Teachers incorporate math, sensory, science, math, language, social and emotional development, and process art. Classroom curriculums are posted on the HiMama app for parents to see.

Do the classrooms follow a schedule?

Each class follows a daily schedule to fit the classroom’s needs with the exception of the Babies. Typically each classroom has morning activities, snack, classroom centers, morning outside time, lunch, nap, snack, afternoon outside time and classroom centers until closing.

What if I need someone else to pick up my child?

Our student information form has a section to list emergency contacts and authorized pick ups. Anyone you allow to pick up your child, their photo ID will be checked upon arrival to the school. If a person will pick up your child regularly, their ID will continue to be checked until we recognize them and know who they are.

How do I get on a waitlist?

It costs nothing to be added to our waitlist. We ask for basic information about your child and contact information for their parent. Should a space become available and we have space for your child, we would contact you and offer you the available spot and you can then accept or decline.
